I am trying to get 5.1 surround sound output from Absynth and am not having any luck. I assume the hardware is setup correctly as I get 5.1 if I play a DVD. I have USB out to KOMPLETE AUDIO 6, then KOMPLETE AUDIO 6 to 5.1 receiver via RCA spdif. From my understand Absynth supports 5.1 audio correct, or is it just 4 channel?

Your receiver is expecting to see an encoded signal. The outputs of Absynth will not produce an encoded surround stream.

    Good luck

    phase90's post sounds right
you may also need to consider this:
in Absynth under file menu choose Options... Select surround tab.
    ---
    cont.
the surround tab lets you choose a surround output scheme. You also need to open the Absynth audio and MIDI settings and assign a number of outputs that match the surr config you want to use.

Absynth can output up to 8 individual outs, if you have a sound card that supports that many outs. Komplete Audio 6 only sends out stereo from it's RCA spdif. There are no computer sound cards that send out encoded surround thru spdif. That's a commercial video codec, not used in pro audio.
