After upgrading to 3.3.0 integration with Beatport Pro via xml library file in iTunes format is broken. I don't need iTunes, but the ability to access smart playlists from 3rd-party catalogers like Beatport Pro was very useful.
Is it a feature that is no longer supported or a bug?

Hi radiokrishna and thanks for your report!
If you are running the beta on macOS 10.13 or newer then the iTunes API is used instead of the XML. That means Traktor 3.3.0 access your iTunes (or Music app if you are using macOS Catalina) directly via the API provided by the operating system, so if other application write to the XML version of your iTunes library those changes won't show up in Traktor.

Can you describe with some more details the interaction between Beatport Pro app, iTunes and its XML Library and Traktor in your setup/workflow?

    Best, Enzo

I am running the macOS 10.14 and Beatport's XML Library was used by Traktor Pro until the latest 3.3 Beta. See more:

So NI changed the interaction with Itunes from XML to API.
Why was this change needed? Did NI not know about people using the Itunes.XML format for other integrations than just Itunes?
Why was the filepath to the XML-file option not removed from TP3 settings, since it is not used anymore?

It is better to have both options: if the xml file is selected, then through XML, if not, then through the API.

    +1 for user choice!
The olden iTunes xml has been long established as an exchange format, and other programs do write out itunes xml like files that work perfectly in Serato, Rekordbox, and Traktor as is. And most importantly, us users have established workflows based on the olden XML way... so please make sure to keep the old xml file import way still an option on PC & Mac in future versions of Traktor!

    Cheers.

The switch to the API was required, because Apple is progressively deprecating the XML export.
But we intend to offer both options in one of the next public betas.
For now 3.2.1, which supports the XML import, is the way to go for who needs it.

Does anybody know if traktor newer versions will recognize the XML file or read the tags created from Beatport pro? Any advice would be appreciated as i am struggling to make sure traktor reads my Beatport pro tags and show in the comment section.

i am running traktor 3.2.1.9 on mac 10.14.4.

Hi all, please check the latest public beta. We introduced a switch which allows you to switch between XML reader and iTunes API, you can find it in the preferences File Management > iTunes/Music.

Thank you Radio Krishna. I uninstalled the older version and re-installed the new Beatport Pro and it works fine.

Hi team. Knowing that Beatport pro had this clever integration (via iTunes XML file structure) into Traktor, I have dutifully tagged and ordered all my music in Beatport pro, ready to move into Traktor and create filtered playlists etc.
The only problem is that it is not writing the fields I want, to the comments field as it should.
I understand there was a short period of time where Traktor had to switch to iTunes API protocol or whatever (please excuse terminology) but then updated again to allow for older XML file format.
I updated my version of Traktor this morning to 3.4.2 256 and checked that I have latest version of Beatport Pro. Despite trying and trying and trying again, it won't write to the comment field. But it does update playlists in Traktor according to playlists in Beatport pro.
PLEASE help me work out how to write comments field otherwise I am going to have to start a completely new file classification or move to a different software.

Also, can you please confirm for me - is the Comment field the only one I can write to from Beatport pro (when it's working)?

Are there any apps other than Beatport pro that can sync / write better to Traktor and can do things like create playlists from filters etc.
