This section guides you through recording the connected equipment in Ableton Live.

Adjusting the Input Level

First, turn the INPUT/HOST knob to the left (INPUT). This way you can listen to your voice, instrument, or synthesizer using headphones.
Then use the GAIN knob next to IN 1 to adjust the input level for your recording. Check the metering on the top of the KOMPLETE AUDIO 2: The blue LEDs should light up solidly. Avoid levels reaching the red LEDs as your recording might become distorted!

Getting Ready

Open a new Live Set. Then switch to Arrangement View by clicking the icon in the top right of the user interface.
Arm the Audio Track called 3 Audio. Its input is set to Ext. In 1, which corresponds to IN 1 on the KOMPLETE AUDIO 2.

You are ready to record!
To start recording, click on the Record button in the header.
To stop recording, click on the Stop button in the header. Your recording is shown as waveform in the Audio Track.
To play your recording, click on the Play button in the header. You can jump to different playback positions by clicking on the Scrub Area in the timeline.

Note: When using headphones, turn the INPUT/HOST knob to the right to blend in the audio from the computer.
