Jam Bass combines a pattern-based bass library with a sophisticated multisample set, designed to deliver authentic-sounding bass lines, patterns, and riffs for songwriting and music production. Its samples originate from a 4 String American Pro Jazz Bass with Alder Body, Maple Neck & Fretboard, in a dual Single Coil Pickup configuration with two Volume Controls, one mutual Tone Control and Elixir Strings. The instrument’s pickup signals were recorded through the DI inputs of a vintage Universal Audio 2-610 preamp and converted using an Antelope Orion Gen4 A/D converter, externally clocked via an Antelope Audio 10MX Rubidium atomic clock. A Royer Labs R-121 Ribbon microphone, run through a Vintage Neve 1272 preamp, was recorded to create a warm and detailed microphone signal which can be blended in with the D.I. signal.
A total of 283 patterns, single notes in many different articulations, round robin variants and velocities in multiple fret positions over a range of three octaves, and additional sample content were performed live by professional bassist Jakob Winterstein. The loops and phrases are grouped into 71 song presets, containing four to eight patterns each, as well as a matching sound preset. You can select patterns via key switches and play them on your MIDI keyboard. Playback will always stay in sync with your host project. Phrases can also be dragged and dropped into the DAW for MIDI editing.
The selection of integrated effects has been updated and now includes Big Fuzz, Vibrato/Chorus, Stereo Tune, PsycheDelay, Raum, Kolor Saturation and the “Superfast 100” Amp emulation. A carefully curated sound preset library provides for a truly versatile collection of sounds, suitable for a wide range of musical styles. A new multi-bus effect system, first introduced with our Session Guitarist – Electric Storm library, enables various variations of parallel and serial FX processing. This system enhances the integrated sound presets, making them even more production-ready and easy to mix.
The key feature of Jam Bass is its revolutionary playback engine. You can seamlessly switch between patterns, and change dynamics in real time to create true-to-life musical performances. Since Jam Bass preserves all of the nuances of the original performance such as exact timing and dynamics, you will notice that the instrument feels very natural and organic. All built-in patterns can be played at any tempo in superb sound quality.
