What is Fantasy?
Fantasy is a full orchestral phrase-based library from Sonokinetic, inspired by the magical and fantastical film scores that define the genre. Recorded with four microphones in the Cinematic Concert Hall in Zlin, it features a 56-piece string section, 16 woodwinds, 22 brass, melodic percussion, concert harp and grand piano. Combine phrases across sections, follow them on the built-in score display, drag MIDI into your DAW and reshape tempo with Time Machine Pro. Variation hotkeys and randomization keep ideas flowing for film, TV and games.
Sonokinetic is renowned for producing very original top quality sample libraries and digital musical instruments, ranging from authentic vocal and instrumental multi-samples & performances to next-level symphonic phrase based instruments. Using only the best instruments, acoustics and technology and hiring top-notch musicians for recording they deliver some of the best compositional tools on the market.

What is Kontakt?
Kontakt is the industry-standard sampling platform used by the world’s top producers and composers. It acts as a "host" for thousands of different virtual instruments – from hyper-realistic orchestral libraries and rare vintage synths to modern pop keys. You can use Kontakt as a standalone application or as a plugin within your DAW to play, edit, and layer these sounds into your tracks.
If you’re just looking to play Kontakt instruments, Kontakt Player is the free version that runs all NI Kontakt instruments, plus loads from third-party developers.
Is Fantasy a VST instrument?
Technically, no, it’s a Kontakt instrument.
However, it functions just like a VST instrument in your DAW.
While musicians and producers often use "VST" as a catch-all term for any virtual instrument, Fantasy is formatted specifically as a Kontakt library (.nki). To use it, you simply load Fantasy inside Kontakt or the free Kontakt Player. Since Kontakt itself runs as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin inside your DAW, the end result is identical: you open it, play it, and automate it just like any traditional VST.
