ANCIENT STONE PERCUSSION
- The bewitching, ancient sound of tuned stones
- 3 articulations: Wooden mallets, rubber mallets and scraped stone
- 1.7 GB KONTAKT library
A ONE-OF-A-KIND INSTRUMENT
The Skiddaw Stones are composed of 61 tuned and shaped rocks, made from rare hornfels stone from Cumbria, England. Two different sets of mallets were used to capture large sets of velocity hits, as well as the sound of a wooden mallet being scraped across the stone surface. The result is a haunting and resonant instrument that sounds truly ancient.
