Einer der weltweit ersten Synths

Das Hammond Novachord wurde 1938 erstmals gebaut. Das polyphone Ungetüm hat 72 Tasten, die Oszillatoren werden von 163 Vakuumröhren gespeist. Beim Publikum rief das Instrument Unverständnis hervor. Kein Wunder: Das Novachord ist weder Klavier noch Orgel. Sein unheimlicher ätherischer Klang wurde dennoch zu einem Grundpfeiler für Film- und Fernsehkomponist*innen: Vom Winde verweht, Der Malteser Falke, Rebecca, Frankensteins Haus, The Outer Limits und The Twilight Zone sind nur einige ikonische Beispiele dafür.
