DAW Navigation
The Kontrol S-series Mk3 keyboards offer customized functionality to suit the DAW that you choose to use, as follows.
Logic Pro
Pressing the 4-D encoder left/right moves you to the previous/next region.
Turning the 4-D encoder moves the play head position.
Holding down the Shift button on the Kontrol keyboard and pressing the Record/Count-In button toggles Logic’s count-in.
Pressing the Metro/Tap Tempo button toggles Logic’s metronome.
Holding down the Shift button and tapping the Metro/Tap Tempo button a few times at the rate that you want Allows you to set the tempo for your project.
Press Undo/Redo to undo your last action.
Hold down the Shift button on the Kontrol keyboard and press the Undo/Redo button to redo your last action.
Press the Auto button to toggle automation between read and touch modes.
If Logic’s transport is stopped:
pressing the Play/restart button Starts playback from the play head position.
Holding down the Shift button on the Kontrol keyboard and pressing the Play button will restart the playback (punch out when recording.
Pressing the Record/Count-in button will start recording.
Pressing the Stop button will move the play head to the start of the project.
If Logic’s transport is playing:
Pressing the Play/Restart button or the Stop button will pause playback at the current play head position.
Pressing the Record/Count-in button will punch in.
If Logic’s transport is recording:
Pressing the Play/Restart button will punch-out.
Pressing the Stop button will stop recording and leave the play head at the current position.
Ableton Live
Pushing the 4-D encoder Left/Right Moves to the previous/next track.
Pressing the 4-D encoder up/down moves you to the previous/next clip within the selected track.
Pressing the 4-D encoder starts/stops playback of the currently selected clip, or starts clip recording if the selected clip slot is empty.
Press the Play/Restart button to Start project playback (restarts playback if the transport is already playing or recording).
Press the Record/Count-in button to Start recording a clip in Session View.
Hold down the Kontrol keyboard’s Shift button and press the Record/Count-In button to start Arrangement View recording.
Press the Loop button to toggle loop playback in Arrangement View.
Press the Metro/Tempo button to toggle Live’s metronome.
Hold down the Kontrol keyboard’s Shift button and tap the Metro/Tempo button a few times to set your project’s tempo.
Press the Undo/redo button to undo your last action.
Hold down the Shift button on the Kontrol keyboard and press the Undo/Redo button to redo your last action.
