Choir Collection

Abstract

The Choir collection delivers choral vocals across all pitch ranges, a diverse set of playable vowels as well as numerous articulations.

The Choir collection delivers choral vocals that span the soprano, alto, tenor, and bass pitch ranges. It includes a range of high-quality patches that include the vowels Aah, Eh, I, Ooh, Uh, and Mmm, as well as sustain, marcato, staccato, and staccatissimo articulations.

Instruments in the Choir Collection

Instruments in the Choir collection feature different sets of parameters that enable you to explore sound variations and create a variety of articulations and musical gestures.

The Choir collection consists of four types of Instruments, each with their own dedicated set of parameters:

  • Vowel Instruments: Focusing on a single vowels, available for each individual section of the choir (for example Alto [a]), or the entire choir (Choir [u]). For more information, refer to Vowel Instruments.

  • Keyswitches Instruments: Featuring keyswitches to select vowels, available for each individual section of the choir (for example Alto Vowels), or the entire choir (Choir Vowels). For more information, refer to Keyswitches Instruments.

  • Morph Instruments: Instruments using KONTAKT's Authentic Expression Technology to morph between vowels, for example Choir Morph [a-e]). For more information, refer to Morph Instruments.

  • Strezov Instruments: Instruments made in collaboration with Strezov Sampling (for example Strezov Sampling Altos), featuring keyswitches for both vowels and articulations. For more information, refer to Strezov Instruments.

Vowel Instruments

Choir Instruments in this category share the same set of parameters that enable you to explore sound variations and create a variety of articulations and musical gestures.

The Main page consists of the following parameters:

  • Dynamics: Adjusts the intensity of the sound both in terms of level and timbre. This parameter is controlled by the modulation wheel.

  • Divisi: Distributes the notes of the chord between the chorus sections. Divisi only takes effect if Chord is activated.

  • Attack: Adjusts the attack time. Turning the control to the left produces a sharper onset of the sound. Turning the control to the right produces a softer onset of the sound.

  • Release: Adjusts the release time. Turning the control to the left makes the sound decay more quickly after releasing a key. Turning the control to the right make the sound decay more slowly.

  • Sound: Morphs between different timbre settings. Turning the control fully to the left produces a neutral sound.

  • Chord: Selects a chord to be played when pressing a single key. When Off is selected, keys trigger individual notes. You can open the drop-down menu by clicking on the name and selecting an entry from the list. Alternatively, you can use the left and right arrow buttons to select the previous or next entry, respectively.

  • Key: Selects the key to be played when Chord is activated. You can select the key by clicking on value and dragging up and down. Alternatively, you can use the left and right arrow buttons to select the previous or next value, respectively.

  • Scale: Selects the scale to be played when Chord is activated. You can open the drop-down menu by clicking on the name and selecting an entry from the list. Alternatively, you can use the left and right arrow buttons to select the previous or next entry, respectively.

Keyswitches Instruments

Choir Instruments in this category share the same set of parameters that enable you to explore sound variations and create a variety of articulations and musical gestures.

  • Double: Adds the second group of the choir, and spreads the two groups between the left and right stereo channel.
